Operation Mincemeat | History | The Man Who Never Was (1956) is a based-on-a-novel film about Operation Mincemeat, the true story of a deception in which the corpse of a homeless man was dressed as a British officer, then placed in the ocean and allowed to wash up in Nazi-controlled territory. The plan succeeded in diverting the Germans from the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.
